Seven years in the making, the $22 million American Can Lofts in Northside opened with much fanfare in October 2011. Just six months later, all 110 apartments and one-third of the 12,000 square feet of commercial space are leased. Grants, historic tax credits, stimulus funds, and dogged persistence from the developers and their partners were instrumental in transforming this 100-year old abandoned factory into a community asset.
